Award winning writer/director Dan Cadan spent the early years of his career collaborating with the likes of Guy Ritchie, Madonna, Idris Elba, Jason Statham and Will.I.Am.
Dan worked with Guy for over a decade, moving quickly from a production assistant on ‘Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels’, to being Guy’s assistant, to developing and writing on several projects including ‘Snatch’, ‘RocknRolla’ and several as yet un-produced projects including a remake of ‘The Wild Geese’.
He wrote and directed with Madonna on a variety of projects including a commercial, tour documentaries and several videos. Madonna asked Dan to write the liner notes for the follow up release to her ‘Immaculate Collection’, ‘Greatest Hits Volume 2’. Dan was also called upon to work with Neil Purvis and Robert Wade to write her scene in the Bond movie, ‘Die Another Day’ (he even managed to sneak a line in for Bond himself.)
Dan has directed music videos for many artists including Mumford and Sons with Idris Elba, Kasabian and Rick Astley. He continues his close collaboration with Noel Gallagher, having directed ten videos for his High Flying Birds - featuring Matt Smith, Jack O’Connell and Stephen Graham. He has also directed ads for Wonderbra, H&M, Royal London and Aston Martin.
‘The Devil’s Wedding’, Dan’s first short film, made Official Selection at 15 international film festivals, winning 5 awards, including Best International Short at the Cleveland International Film Festival. The unique film, told completely in rhyme, stars Stephen Graham and Lena Headey and counts amongst its many fans, Johnny Depp and Harry Potter producer Lionel Wigram who called the film “a tour de force”. He is currently reworking the screenplay into a feature.
Having adapted novels for James Patterson and Attica Locke, Dan wrote his first solo feature, ‘Walk Like A Panther’, which was given the green light by Stacey Snider at 20th Century Fox. Dan went on to produce and direct the film, which was released in the UK in 2018. The ensemble cast includes Stephen Graham, Dave Johns, Jill Halfpenny, Julian Sands, Hannah Walters, Sue Johnston, Guz Khan and Jason Flemyng.
Dan collaborated with Goldie to write a six part drama entitled ‘Sine Tempore’. This unique story is a sweeping story of doomed love and intense conflict, and the shattering consequences of both. A modern day, Shakespearean tragedy.
Dan is attached to direct a feature biopic of Jonny Kennedy, who was the subject of the Emmy winning documentary ‘The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off’.
Dan wrote episode 2 of the BBC’s ‘Boiling Point’ spin off series.
Dan is developing a feature with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, entitled ‘Brink’. Based upon the incredible true story of a Brink’s depot heist and the wild characters involved - the protagonists being an IRA Rebel, a corrupt New York cop, a boxer from Liverpool and a Catholic priest.
Dan rewrote all 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in rhyme for the 75th anniversary. Working with Choose Love, Smiley Movement and Art for Human Rights, he directed the project which features Dame Judi Dench, Olivia Colman, Bella Ramsey, Jude Law, Annie Lennox, Nazanin Boniadi, Rita Ora and many more. To date, the films have had over 230 million views across social media.
Dan continues to develop his own projects for TV and film.
